MGI recruits graduate accountants predominately for a business services/tax and accounting role. However, all graduates are given some exposure to our other service areas.
What’s it like working for MGI? We speak to two employees who recently joined our team as graduates:
Carly Dale says:
“I began working at MGI Melbourne straight from university. The transition from study to full time work was difficult but the working environment at MGI helped. The level of training and support in the firm is very high which made the learning process less daunting. The assistance in daily work and with CA study indicates that MGI cares for their employees.
One key aspect I was looking for in a firm was variety in work available. At MGI I have been exposed to a range of areas including business services, superannuation and audit. This has helped me to understand the different areas of accounting and identify the areas which I enjoy. MGI has managed to create a very social and energetic working environment with its weekly drinks in the board room and various social club events including tennis day, lawn bowls day and mid year ball. There are numerous opportunities to grow with MGI which is positive for all graduates.”
Anthony Cape says:
“My transition from my university and travelling lifestyle was made easy by the great team at MGI Melbourne. After I had travelled for a couple of years after uni, getting back to work was difficult. With the support of the team around me though I soon quickly developed the necessary skills that was required to start my accounting career.
With weekly training sessions and opportunity for further studies including the CA program among other courses, the knowledge and help I have gained from all staff has been great. Apart from the working side, the social side has also been enjoyable. From the weekly Friday night drinks and the various events such as tennis days and lawn bowls days, I know I have formed some great friendships. I hope to be here for some time yet.”
Do we have International Associations?
MGI is part of the MGI group – one of the largest associations of independent accounting and consulting firms in the world. The MGI group has more than 200 offices in 70 countries. Is there an opportunity to travel overseas with my work?
Yes, in order to broaden the experience of our staff we offer them secondments (usually on completion of the Chartered Accountants program). To date our staff have been offered work in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, however, as mentioned above, our international network extends to over 70 countries.
